Kamal Wajih Hijazi, Co-Founder of Divan International

Kamal Wajih Hijazi's connection to cultural exchange began in 1968, when he traveled to the United States as a participant in a high-school cultural exchange program. That experience — living and studying abroad as a young person — left a lasting impression and became the idea he would return to throughout his career.

After graduating from San Jose State University in 1974, he built an international business career spanning more than five decades, with leadership experience across the Middle East and the United States.

In 1998, he established Divan International to give a new generation the same opportunity that once changed his own life. Under his leadership, Divan introduced an International Foundation Year initiative in Jordan, built lasting relationships with universities, governments, and international organizations, and supported thousands of students and young professionals on their international journeys.
